Elf vlf receiver4/7/2024 ![]() ![]() The ELF/ VLF receiver can be mounted on a (camera) tripod, via a standard screw connection at the bottom. The antenna connection is of the BNC type. The receiver has an IF output for signals analysis, a large volume control knob and a headphone socket. It has a re-chargeable battery inside but can be powered by an external power source (12V) too. The unit is extremely sensitive and has been professionally custom-built in Italy. ![]() You can also use this to detect electromagnetic fields in your immediate environment. I have mainly used it to listen to the sounds of the Aurora Borealis and to evaluate the effect of solar phenomena (flares, sunspots, coronal mass emissions) on the Ionosphere. The unit is suitable for monitoring Extremely Low Frequency and Very Low Frequency emissions, for propagation and lightning strike forecasting and the study of earthquake precursor waves. The frequency range is from 1-10 kHz, for reception of whistlers, sferics, tweeks, and similar electromagnetic phenomena from the Ionosphere around the world. This is a receiver for the very lowest of frequency bands, also known as a 'Nature' radio.
